My name is Amanda Blake, and I am a freelance writer and copy editor who has led multiple award-winning news projects and worked in journalism, marketing, media production, public relations, and internal communications. Since obtaining my B.A. in journalism in the spring of 2024, I’ve devoted significant time to refining and spreading the messages of Christian media ministries such as the Voice of Prophecy, Little Light Studios, and secondcoming.org. I often aid smaller clients (check out Humans of Colorado!) and find opportunities to grow my journalism roots through feature writing.

On any given week, you’ll find me interviewing sources for a story; writing articles, press releases, newsletters, and blog posts; editing webpages, marketing materials, and study guides; optimizing content for search engines; and inspecting video content.

 

Throughout my college career (2020–2024), I worked my way up from reporter to editor-in-chief of my university’s student newspaper, the “Southern Accent,”  and frequently wrote articles for my university’s marketing department. I spent the summer of 2023 as a part-time communications intern at nationwide mental healthcare company Thriveworks. These roles taught me how to craft quality stories for the media, write in a brand’s voice, and enact communication strategies that actually reach and help people.​
 

Writing is my first love—but visual storytelling runs a close second.​ My passion for nature and travel photography, shaped in part by a semester in Spain, complements a more professional background in photojournalism, interactive journalism, and editorial design.

On a free day, I enjoy traveling, reading, frequenting coffee shops, wandering through museums for hours, and spending time with family and friends—especially my dog.
