About Me
Hi! My name is Amanda Blake, and I am an eagle-eyed writer and copy editor who helps creators sharpen their messages with clear, compelling prose. I have led multiple award-winning news projects and worked for a variety of departments—including (but not limited to) news, marketing, public relations, and human resources. If you believe my talents could enhance your business or publication, I’d love to hear from you!
Most recently, I worked as a temporary editorial assistant at the Voice of Prophecy, a Christian media ministry. I wrote news releases, feature articles, and promotional text, as well as copy edited a wide range of materials—from book chapters and study guides to booth designs and social media posts.
In May 2024, I obtained a bachelor’s in journalism from Southern Adventist University (SAU). During my college career, I worked my way up from reporter to editor-in-chief of the Southern Accent, SAU’s student newspaper. For four semesters, I also worked as a staff writer for SAU’s marketing department. In these roles, I created several quality stories for the media, engaged with my community, and developed strong interviewing skills.
I spent the summer of 2023 as a part-time communications intern at Thriveworks, a nationwide mental health care company. By assisting the corporation’s head of internal communications, I built experience in integrated communication strategies, ghostwriting, email marketing, brand compliance, and newsletter/presentation design.
Writing may be my first love, but I cannot deny the power and fun of visual storytelling. I especially enjoy nature and travel photography, a passion augmented by my semester in Spain. Throughout my career, I have developed hard skills in photojournalism, interactive journalism, editorial design, and basic video production.
I excel at news and feature writing, interviewing, copy editing, pre-press proofing, content management, and working within a dedicated team of creators. I enjoy traveling, reading, wandering through museums for hours, and spending time with family and friends.
Most of all, I enjoy serving others with meticulous editing and literary craftsmanship.
